Hi dear friend,
I was born shy. Not a little shy – so shy that I could not look other people in the eye. My mom had to take a blanket to her weekly women’s group and throw it over her chair so I could play underneath it without anyone being able to see me. My younger sister had to do all the talking on my behalf.
Fast forward 25 years to 2014. I delivered a Persuasive Presentation in Chicago to the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and his leadership team – asking them to invest millions in a brand they did not believe would grow again. My impactful presentation resulted in a unanimous decision to make the big investment. After this success, I started coaching other brand marketers and sales executives to Present with Confidence. However, my journey from exceptionally shy with low confidence to a successful confident presenter and presentation coach didn’t happen overnight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
To help me overcome my shy disposition I did ten years of Drama and Theatre training. After completing a Communications and Industrial Psychology degree and an Honors in Journalism, I opened a Public Speaking and Drama School in the town where I lived to share the training that helped transform my life. I then became an award-winning Journalist, Intercultural Communications lecturer at the University of the Free State and later started working as a Marketer at the University. During this time I delivered hundreds of presentations to University Alumni and prospective students all over South Africa.
JOINING THE CORPORATE WORLD
It was only once I completed my Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications and MBA that I found my true passion: Where business and Impactful Communications meet. I joined SABMiller in South Africa and absolutely loved business. I also harnessed my ability to communicate succinctly and effectively to be successful in my corporate roles. I later moved to the US for a Brand Management job and after the 2014 presentation in Chicago, I knew I had to share what I know with others.

I love my corporate job where I am Sales Director at a Fortune 500 CPG company. Over the past few years, I’ve observed thousands of presentations and coached hundreds of people on becoming more Confident and Impactful presenters. I love helping others tweak some behaviors and incorporate new speaking and presentation habits that transform their presentations. WHAT MATTERS MOST
JB lives in the sleepy beach town of San Clemente, halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, with her husband and blue-eyed son. When she is not busy with her corporate job or teaching Confident Presentation skills, she and her family can be found running, biking, swimming, or hiking outdoors.
